Katherine Nelson Single

Here's another little shout out to R Legacy Entertainment and this time with Katherine Nelson. An amazing artist who has a new CD coming out August 1st. Born Brave, check it out! Awesome work Katherine! So I shot and edited this, shooting alongside Russ Dixon, a producer at R Legacy Entertainment. And just so there's no confusion, this was not created by HuffTown Films. Its just a little sample of some outside work that I've done. And a little shout out for R Legacy.
 

William Joseph CD Release

This video was not made by HuffTown films. It was shot by Jon and I with and for R Legacy Entertainment. I was an employee there for a little while and now I do some freelance work for them here and there. So this post isn't to boast HuffTown films but to give a little shout out to R Legacy Entertainment, William Joseph, and to feature a bit of what we've have done on the side.

Knox

We held off for so long telling people that we were having a baby that we thought the best way to do it was to create a cool little video to casually announce it. A cool little side note... the filter used on it was homemade. I took powder from my makeup bag, sat in front of a lamp and blew little amounts of it into the air with my lens totally out of focus. I think the effect is pretty rad! I have to admit, I now have a hankering to try making more of my own filters. Super fun and creative!

Megan & Jake

We so loved shooting for Megan and Jacob. They're super sweet! Something that was a little different and exciting on this one. We only created a highlight for them so what you see is what they got, but it was different because we shot it in three different sittings and the end product was a partial same day edit. So we shot the interview one day, the getting ready stuff another day and the actual wedding stuff... well, obviously the day of... then we had to have an edit ready for them just a few hours later. Luckily it all went down smoothly and everyone was very happy. Ya!

UNLV Films

We shot a lot of stuff while in Vegas... good times... good times... Anyhow, here's a little reel we threw together to feature some of that work. Superflash was edited by our good friend Eric Armijo, and the other two were edited by us.

Kalisa & Ben

Ah, Kalisa and Ben. I don't think we have ever met a couple who were so perfect for each other or so completely in love. The awesome thing is that they've known each other forever! It was a heart warmer wedding, that's for sure. Seriously, watch the video, they're ubber cute! Love it, love it, love it!!!

Jo & Ryan - Reception Video

We had a complete blast shooting this couple's wedding. They were just super fun and really great to work with. Something we did different, and actually really liked, was that they shot their couple photos weeks before the wedding, so we were able to create a reception video for them days prior to the actual event. That was really nice and to be honest, a bit less stressful the day of. A definite fav! Best wishes to these two crazy love birds!

Tyrant Collection

Months ago we were contacted by AmyLynn Studios to shoot a collaborative video, but for one reason or another it kept getting pushed back until finally we had a great opportunity to work together. Amy was doing a photo shoot for a jewelry company called Tyrant Collection and so she asked us to come and film a little promo piece. This is what we created. Enjoy!

Sixth Row

We met Brooke, co-owner of Sixth Row, a few weeks ago after she saw the video we did for Tyrant Collection. They asked us last minute to do this event and we were totally down. Events like this are so fun to shoot... and edit for that matter. Anyhow, we had a great time working with both Brooke and Jen, as well as the other girls who had brought their goods to be checked out. Great stuff... my only regret... not buying anything!!!! A Portrait of an Artist... and his process

Jon and I have been working on a very exciting project. We came up with the idea one day after we had moved to Utah. We were lingering around Barnes & Noble, passing the time when I came across an autobiography on a couple who were total hippies back-in-the-day. They talked about how they lived their lives, how they fell in love, how they created, and so on. I was totally inspired, not just by film or photography but by the arts as a whole. I told Jon that I wanted to do a documentary on an artist... and as we hadn't done any filmmaking since Humidity, just four months prior, we thought it was the perfect time.

Luckily a few months before my sister had introduced us to her good friends, Jeff and Jen Hein. Jeff is and artist of amazing talent. When we met with him again after the Barnes & Noble trip, we pitched him the idea and he thought it sounded like a great experience. It was really perfect timing too because he had just started a very difficult project that would utilize his process to the fullest. This documentary will follow Jeff from start to finish of the painting. We will see his process of studying, creating and recreating in the effort to fully understand the subjects for his final masterpiece. As so many artists photograph their subjects and recreate it in a painting, Jeff's process of working from live subjects is really unique, it's like the lost art behind the art... it's very interesting!

We've been working on it about a month now, and it's looking great. We still do have quite a long way to go though. I've been working on a teaser to get it going. I should have it finished in the next few weeks. I would love to have it sooner but we have a number of projects going on right now. Anyhow, keep an eye out for it and thanks for reading.

Humidity's Utah Debut

Jon and I are very excited. Thank you to artist Jeff Heins who has asked for us to debut Humidity at his studio.

Okay it sounds official but its not official at all. Just a fun little get together. He's an amazing artist who's just cracked into the filmmaking sect. Check out his short called "I Got Mine." After you watch it... as I understand it, that's his first attempt at filmmaking. WOW! Right!!! He did really, really well!!!

Anyhow, I guess this pushes up my completion date for the Directors Cut of Humidity by a week. I love deadlines!!! (Really, I do... they force you to get things done.)

Update: The showing was great! We really enjoyed ourselves. It was nice hanging out with film folk again. Talkin' film and so on. It's been about a month since we have and to be honest, we've been having withdrawals from it, so it was really satisfying. We are also excited because we were able to talk about some upcoming projects that we're going to collaborate on, which will be really exciting. The style of the projects will also be really new for us, so we'll have an experience. Even better!

Humidity

Most everyone who knows about Humidity thus far has seen it, however I'm sure there will be some people who read this who have no idea what it is. Well, it's a short film that basically helped Jon and I discover who we really are as directors and the true path that we should take. Basically it was us finding our voice. Anyhow, it showed in the UNLV Spring Flicks Film Festival 2010 and was selected for the UNLV Showcase at the 2010 Las Vegas Film Festival. We have an LVFF cut but we'd like to finish it off with a Directors cut... we were limited to 15 minutes for the last two festivals but really the short should be closer to 20. Anyhow, we hope to get it into some film festivals which is why we haven't posted it on here yet... But just to tease you... here is the poster. Enjoy!

Las Vegas Film Festival 2010

We’re excited to announce that Humidity, a short that we spent the first half of the year filming and editing, has been selected to be a part of the UNLV Student Showcase at the Las Vegas Film Festival 2010.

It will play Saturday, June 5th at 12 PM in the Hilton Theater. Tickets are $10 so get yours now. I must say last year I went to almost all of the short film blocks at the Cinevegas Film Festival... well, all but one and ours was actually probably the best showcase. I was surprised. I know that the UNLV students do good work but I didn’t expect the difference when compared to outside work. And the line up this year is going to rock.

PS. I know we haven't posted it to be viewed yet and we're very sorry. We're hoping to get it into some film festivals but to be honest we don't know their stipulations. So we're going to try it out. If it flies. Yeah. Hopefully someone will like the story and will trust us with some funding to make a feature.

Sarah & Mike

Shooting Sarah & Mike's wedding was such a fun experience! The first day was super chill when we went by to capture a few shots of the set up. A lot of friends and family arriving in from out of town. The day of the wedding was a blast. From the spunky little ring bearers, to the wedding dance and then the awesome photographers at ATLF who were such a great team to work with. Thanks everyone for making this such a wonderful experience, I hope we were able to do the same for you. And Sarah & Mike: Best of luck you two crazy love birds!!!
